About Me-

Overnight Postpartum Doula serving Maine (ME) & NH. About my
passions, interests, qualifications & philosophy.
I
have been a maternity nurse since 1995.
Still I remain in awe of the miraculous events that
occur starting from conception to birth and through
the postpartum period. There is no greater
feeling than helping mothers, babies and families
get off to the best start whether that means through
prenatal education, assisting in labor and delivery
or supporting them postpartum.
I left
hospital nursing in the summer of 2007 with visions
of starting my own business. Not just any business,
but one that utilizes my strengths, passions and
abilities. One that has meaning and helps people.
One that I look forward to doing every day. It was
clear - my business was Mothering Moon - allowing
families to choose what services they need, when
they need it.
Professionally I am an international board certified
lactation consultant (IBCLC), I am certified
in CPR & NRP (neonatal resuscitation program)
and I
belong to the Southern Maine
Breastfeeding Coalition, the
Seacoast Doula Group
& the
Perinatal Mental Health Alliance
(PMHA) which provides
information and support for families coping with perinatal mood disorders and depression.
In my
personal life - I have a husband of 22 years who is
very supportive of me and what I'm passionate about.
Together we are the parents of 4 children ages
15,17,19, & 21 and soon to be the grandparents of 1.
Outside of pregnancy, birth and parenting - my interests include vegetable
and flower gardening, photography, and whatever my
children happen to be into at the moment.
I am keenly
aware of the joys and challenges of parenting and
have seen first hand the benefits to mothers, babies
and families who have had preparation, education and
most of all support. When we are informed, prepared,
rested and supported (physically AND mentally) we
tend to have more reserves and resources to deal
with the challenges of everyday life and parenting.
Support has
been the key to turning around many difficult
situations and I hope to provide that support for
families just when they need it - day or night -
scheduled or last minute. See my
Successful Beginnings Services
for more information.
