Mothering Moon

   Easing The Transition Into Parenthood....

About Me
In my personal life - I have a husband of 25 years who is very supportive of me and what I'm passionate about.  Together we are the parents of 4 children (2 boys & 2 girls) ages 18,20,22, & 24 and the grandparents of a grandson and granddaughter both born at home.  Outside of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting - my interests include vegetable and flower gardening, photography, landscaping and whatever my children and grandchildren happen to be into at the moment.
Professionally I am a registered nurse (RN) who practiced as a hospital maternity nurse from 1995-2007.  In 2007 I left hospital nursing and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or breastfeeding specialist and started Mothering Moon.
I keep myself current through reading books, doing extensive research and attending pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting conferences.  I'm particularly interested in patient advocacy, patient's rights to personal autonomy, informed choice & refusal, birth and medical trends, up to date and evidence based information and more.  I also enjoy learning about non-mainstream information so that I can have a broad knowledge base about alternative choices and options (homebirth, co-sleeping/bedding, baby wearing, intact penis, APing, ECing, alternative vaccination schedules, infant communication, and more). Below are the events and conferences in which I've participated or attended:

Please see My Services for more information about what I do.
